Groove Razors

I am now an honorary member of GROOVE  RAZORS, and the USA manager for this new London-based fusion quintet, founded in 2009 by Tomasz Zyrmont and Laurie Lowe.  This international jazz band features some excellent young musicians:  Alan Short, alto sax;  Luca Boscagin, guitar;  Lorenzo Bassignani bass;  Laurie Lowe, drums; and Tommy Zyrmont, keyboards;  who have played at the prestigious Polish music Jazz Café POSK in London, and cut its first cd.

These handsome young men have established their own reputation as very good and talented musical instrumentalists all over Europe. This great ensemble has given jazz lovers a cd of groove funk with rhythmically complex yet ballad style music.

Tomasz, its leader, studied at the Jazz Academy in Katowice, Poland, and graduated from the famous London Guildhall School of Music and Drama, also is the composer of “Night with You”, and “Tatitatune”.  My favorite is “Ballad for Venus” which he started writing while visiting me in Florida.

This first cd: GROOVE RAZORS, a collector’s item, may be ordered from Tommy directly:  tom.zyrmont@yahoo.com; or contact me at:  AZS7@cox.net for further details.

MovieWork Now Casting placed Alinka Zyrmont in a bit part in the movie: VALLEY OF THE SUN, a comedy, filmed in Sun City, Arizona. The cast includes Johnny Whitworth, Barry Corbin, M. Emmitt Walsh, Heather Burns, Garret Morris, Graham Green and Beth Grant.

Alinka also worked as a "cougar" in SUNSET DAZE, a promo for a new reality TV show produced by Steve Devore of Mocean Productions.

TUCSON FESTIVAL OF BOOKS 2010

The second annual Tucson Festival of Books held on the campus of the University of Arizona was a resounding success, with the cooperation of fantastic weather. The festival drew around 50,000 people over two days and more than 400 writers, including yours truly.

There was a large selection of books about mystery, romance, politics, sports, science, human rights, culinary, fitness training, poetry, screen writers, an international venue of Hispanics writers: Nuestras Raices; and even classes on how to write books. There were many authors lecturing about their stories and plenty of activities for the kids, with cartoon characters, music, and some of the presenters entertaining both young and adults alike. The festival also helped raise awareness of literary issues teaching kids to love to read books. It was my father's extensive collection of books that molded my young mind with adventures and fantasies which later led to a writing career.
